Includes first-hand accounts of the harsh conditions endured by poor tenant families, ruthless evictions, and the terrible suffering in the workhoues and abroad the notorious 'coffin ships'.
About the Author: RUAN O'DONNELL is head of the History Department at the University of Limerick & the official historian of the Robert Emmet Association. He has written for The Irish Times and several historical publications.
