Description

This book marks the first time Johnny Cash's 60 years of songwriting have been collected anywhere. Cash is one of the most beloved and influential country-music stars of all time, having composed more than 600 songs and perhaps best known for blending country, rock, blues, and gospel in his music, ushering in the countrypolitan and Outlaw country movements.

An essential collectible that sheds new light on Cash's life and work, this oversize and sumptuously designed book includes rare and never-before-seen visual material alongside stories and commentary from Cash's son, John Carter Cash, Mark Stielper, Cash and Carter family historian, and others. Released the year of the twentieth anniversary of the legendary musician's passing, it will be a landmark moment in music publishing. A deluxe limited edition will also be available

This publication marks the first time the Cash Estate will open its archive to help lovers of his music understand his timeless songs in a new light, and to share the stories behind their creation. Public Historian Dr. Brian Dempsey will oversee the visual contributions.

About the Author

Mark Stielper has chronicled the life of the Man in Black for nearly 40 years, contributing to a dozen Cash biographies, appearing on screen in documentaries, and speaking at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Johnny Cash Museum. Johnny Cash himself called Stielper "my friend, the family historian", and said, "He knows more about me than me".

Johnny Carter Cash is the only son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. He has produced five Grammy Award-winning albums and owns and operates the Cash Cabin Studio in Tennessee. He is also the author of House of Cash: The Legacies of My Father, Johnny Cash.

Johnny Cash (1932-2003) was an American singer and songwriter who is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. He sold more than 90 million records worldwide and composed more than 600 songs. He received 29 gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards for his recordings and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Cash was also a successful actor, writer, and activist. His lifelong support for SOS Children's Villages, a nonprofit supporting and advocating for children in need, led to the creation of the Johnny Cash Memorial Fund to carry on that legacy after his death.
