Description

The book is an update on the Irish Fairies. An ubiquitous presence in the 17th century, they have slowly diminished but they are still around.

The book covers aspects of fairly lore such as origins, habitations, music, fairy wars, as well as the principal fairy royal personages. The infamous changeling is discussed as well as traditions to do with Mayday, Halloween and calendar festivals important to a rural community.

The fairy isles off the coast are here, as are healing plants and herbal cures granted by the fairies and used by local ‘Fairy doctors’.

Importantly are recent stories of the fairies that demonstrate that they still continue and are held in high regard by the Irish.

A detailed map indicates the location of remaining fairy hostels to visit.
