Clare Road contains a rich collection of articles, poetry, maps, land records, residents’ recollections, and photographs tracing the life and history of one of Ennis’s most well-known thoroughfares.
Larry Brennan has compiled ‘Clare Road, Ennis’ which will be launched next week, and he is hopeful this book will help put an end to the popular use of the incorrect Limerick Road name for the entire 3.5km stretch.
Spanning from Darcy’s Corner (D&G Auctioneers) to the Clare GAA Headquarters in Clarecastle, the Clare Road and its surrounding areas, including Limerick Road, St Flannan’s Terrace, Ardlea Road, Toberteascan, and adjoining estates, are brought vividly to life through local stories and historical records.
“In Ennis we are fortunate to live in a town which is still rich in history and where much has survived,” states Larry.
