Rodney played in Golf’s Golden Era of the 1960s and 1970s when respect, sportsmanship and friendship were so highly valued. This biography not only details his amazing playing career: five time winner of the Yorkshire Amateur Championship and ten time winner of the Bradford Open, and junior and senior caps for England between 1960 and 1973 , before becoming the non playing captain of England in the Home Internationals 1976, 1977 and 1978.
He won the most valued amateur titles of his day: the European Amateur Team Championship three times, the Berkshire Trophy 1964 and the Lytham Trophy in 1967 and 1968, and the English Amateur Stroke Play Championship, The Brabazon Trophy twice.
On the wider international stage Rodney played in the Masters 1966, numerous Open Championships and the World Team Championship. He played in the Walker Cup five times including the most famous GB and Ireland victory over the USA of all time in 1971 at St Andrews. He captained the Walker Cup side twice at Muirfield 1979 and Cypress Point in 1981, before becoming Chairman of Selectors.
