Sheena Jolley has gained a huge international reputation as a wildlife photographer and will be well known to Irish television viewers as a judge on RTÉ’s “Eye on Nature” photo competition.
D. J. O’Sullivan was a lighthouse keeper and a noted naturalist who published two acclaimed volumes of poetry and won the first Poetry Ireland Award in 1980.

The introduction has been written by biologist and radio and TV presenter Éanna Ní Lamhna.
